On Jun 28^th 2023, NSFC President Dou Xiankang met with Dr. Andreas Göthenberg, Executive Director of the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT). Prof. Lan Yujie, Vice President of NSFC attended the meeting.

In his speech, President Dou pointed out that as Sweden is one of the leading countries in scientific research in Europe, strengthening the cooperation with STINT is on top of NSFC's international cooperation agenda. In recent years, the two sides have worked closely on young researchers nurturing, which has laid the foundation for promoting the substantive cooperation between Chinese and Swedish researchers. In view of the good momentum and growing demand of both scientific communities for science, technology and innovation cooperation, NSFC is ready to work with STINT to enhance the joint funding mechanism, as well as promote the academic and policy discussions in areas of common interest to both sides in the future.

Dr. Andreas Göthenberg highly valued the previous cooperation between NSFC and STINT. He expressed the hope to strengthen the strategic and policy discussions with NSFC and expand the regular dialogue mechanism between China and Nordic research funding agencies, with the focus on promoting the exchanges between university presidents of the two sides.

Prof. Yin Wenxuan, Deputy Director General of NSFC’s Bureau of International Cooperation, Dr. Erik Forsberg, Representative in China and APAC of the STINT and other officials participated in the meeting.
