NSFC President Meets Executive Director of the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education
On December 3, 2018, NSFC President Li Jinghai met with the delegation headed by Andreas Göthenberg, Executive Director of the Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education (STINT). The two sides reviewed the process of bilateral cooperation and had an in-depth discussion on management and performance assessment for mobility program between Chinese and Swedish researchers, and the organization of a China-Nordic science funding policy forum.
Since NSFC and STINT signed the cooperation agreement in 2015, the two organizations have jointly launched 3 rounds of call for proposals and funded 75 three-year projects of researcher exchange and workshop. On December 3, 2018, NSFC and STINT jointly held a Mobility Program Workshop in Beijing. About 20 PIs of projects funded by NSFC and STINT, science policy experts and representatives of NSFC and STINT attended the workshop. The participants had a discussion on collaboration outcomes, future collaborative plan and common challenges. They also provided suggestions to NSFC and STINT on ways to improve program funding and management. NSFC President Li Jinghai met with all participants before the workshop.
Dr. Andreas Göthenberg was accompanied by Dr. Tommy Shih, China Policy Advisor and Programme Manager at STINT. Fan Yingjie, Li Wencong and Shenjie from the Bureau of International Cooperation attended the meeting.
